Information- and communication technology is a fast growing market in the last years.
Russia introduced the "Electronic Russia 2002-2010" Program in 2002 to increase the efficiency of the economy both in the public and private sectors, to make wider use of information technologies in government departments, and transfer much of the state's work online.
In Austria ICT is an important ecomonic factor, as it has a total turnover of EUR 14,5 Mio. (year 2004). Many companies are working in that field and more than 120.000 people are employed in that sector.
Therefore the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, FFG, the Commercial Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy in Moscow are promoting bilateral co-operations between Austrian and Russian companies active in the security field.
